Rules listed below are created by Urban Soccer League, Indoor/Outdoor facilities and are for your safety. If you have any questions feel free to ask one of the League supervisory staff on duty.

Outdoor Rules Soccer

Outdoor Guidelines:

  1. Registration: Players must be registered prior to game.

  2. Roster:
    5v5, 6v6 (9 Players), 7v7 (11 players), 8v8 (12 players).
    Coed 5v5, 6v6 (minimum 2 women outfield players or play shorthanded)
    Coed 7v7 (minimum 3 women outfield players or play shorthanded)

  3. Proper Attire: League shirts, turf or flat sole soccer shoes recommended, black soccer shorts, shin pads. Our goal is to promote team and organization spirit! (If a player is in a game without proper gears, game official or USL staff may ask him to step out. The player may not enter back in the game until proper attire is satisfied)

  4. Schedule: 1 regular schedule game per week, 6-10:30pm.
    Team captain's must check fixture weekly prior to game to ensure you have the most updated schedule. Due to unforeseen issues with field availability some changes may need to be made after the initial posting.

  5. Free Kicks: All direct 6v6 (6 yards), 7v7 (7yards), 8v8 (8 yards)

  6. Penalty kicks: All Pk's taken with 1 step.

  7. Pass Back: keeper can not use hands to play the ball

  8. No offside

  9. No Slide Tackles

  10. No aggressive reckless play.

  11. Both #9 & #10 infractions can result in at least 1 game suspension.

  12. Yellow Card = 2 minutes penalty, team plays a player down, unless opponent scores. 2 accumulated yellow cards = red card.

  13. Red Card = Player will automatically be suspended from game with risk of additional game or league expulsion!
    (team plays 5 minutes shorthanded or until opponent scores. new player allow after power play served).

  14. Sportsmanship: All participants are to conduct themselves in a proper, respectful manner to all League representatives, game officials, & participating players. Fighting, abusive language will be subject to red cards with possible league suspension.

    • Respect for yourself, participants, referees, staff, & facilities.

  15. Substitutions: unlimited on a fly. (Goal Keeper substitutions MUST be made during teams possession)

  16. Two 22mins/halves. (conclusion of initial halve team changes side immediately at referees whistle & resumes play)

  17. Draw: End of regulation time the score is tie, it will record as tie with each team receiving a point.

  18. Points: W=3 points, L=0pt., D=1pt., Forfeits 5-0, Mercy rule 10 goals

  19. Pickup players: Teams may pickup at most 2 additional league players to complete the side in the interest of competition rather then executing a forfeit. There will be no delay of game for missing players or team not being ready.

  20. Five-A-Side: Minimum requirement 4 players for an official game.

  21. Six-A-Side: Minimum requirement 4 players for an official game.

  22. Seven-A-Side: Minimum requirement 5 players for an official game.

  23. Eight-A-Side: Minimum requirement 6 players for an official game.

  24. Coed 5v5 & 6v6 (2 women outfield players), Coed 7v7 (3 women outfield players)

  25. Referees decisions are final & binding as no protest allowed after game!

  26. Forfeits/Cancellations: Please DO NOT Forfeit/cancel games.
    Teams rely on each other to show up weekly to ensure a fun competitive season.
    We strongly suggest every effort to attend all games even if it's a partial squad. League will do best in sending additional substitute players as needed in the interest of competition.If you think your team might have to forfeit notify League by 3pm game day so that we can timely reach out to opponent, worst case scenario our staff will assume the slot give opponent a game. Team must receive a reply from league in order to be consider an official cancellation. League will do it's best in the attempt to reschedule cancelled games by either mother nature or opposing team but no guarantees.
    We reserve additional fields weekends Friday - Sunday solely for makeup games.
    Multiple forfeits/cancellation can jeopardize team re-registration outcome!

  27. NO Refund once team is registered for the season!
    Please Do Not register your team if players are not fully committed weekly for the duration of the season.

  28. Weather:
    What if it rains? It's Soccer, it's fun to play rain or shine! Only in severe (lightning, extreme heat) or unplayable field conditions
    will we consider cancelling. Look for emails from info@urbansoccer.com for updates from League coordinator.
    Absolutely NO refunds if Mother Nature cancels game. League will make every attempt to reschedule but can't guarantee it!

  29. Team Captains/Coordinators responsibilities: Ensure that your respective teams are aware of the above guidelines, player's proper behavior, & full payment of team entry dues.

Indoor Rules Soccer

Indoor Guidelines: 

  1. Registration: Players must be registered prior to game.

  2. Number of Players: 5v5, Keeper included
    Roster 9 players/game, 4 players to start an official game, coed division requires 2 women outfield field players or play shorthanded

  3. Proper Attire: League shirts, flat rubber sole indoor soccer shoes, Black shorts, shin pads. Our goal is to promote team and organization spirit! (If a player is in a game without proper gears, game official or USL staff may ask him to step out. The player may not enter back in the game until proper attire is satisfied)

  4. Schedule: 1 regular schedule game per week, 6-10pm.

  5. kickoff: Ball in play once it has been touched.

  6. Free Kicks: All Direct, Wall allow 5 steps away from the ball

  7. Penalty kicks: All Pk's taken with 1 step.

  8. Goal Clearance: No Goal Kicks, goalkeeper restart play from inside the penalty area with hands by throwing ball back into play. The ball is not in play until it has passed outside the penalty arc. Keeper can not score directly from restart unless it touches a player.

  9. Out of Bounds:
    Kick-in instead of throw-in.
    Ball is placed on the touch line before kicking. Opposing players must allow 3 steps from point of kick-in.
    Can score directly from a kick-in.
    Corner Kick ball placed on corner of the court. Opposing players must allow 3 steps from point of kick-in.
    Can score directly from a corner kick.

  10. Overhead Structures: Ball hits ceiling or anything overhead, opposing team restarts play at mid court. Can score directly from restart

  11. Pass Back: keeper can not use hands to play the ball

  12. Fouls and Misconduct
    Direct free kick given when a player intentionally kicks, trips, charge, hold, push, shoulder checks, slide or impede a clear goal opportunity.
    3 Fouls allow each half, the 4th foul on will result in a penalty kick.

  13. No offside

  14. No shoulder checking

  15. No slide tackles

  16. No aggressive reckless play

  18. Halftime: team must switch side immediately upon referees halftime whistle

  19. Pickup players: Teams may pickup at most 1 additional league players to complete the side in the interest of competition rather then executing a forfeit. There will be no delay of game for missing players or team not being ready.

  29. Schedule: No grace period for kickoff time, No makeup games. League is under contract with facility for a fixed amount of time.

  33. All team members must wear Urban Soccer League shirt or approved team kit during the game.

  34. All team members must wear Shin Guards while in the game. (If a player is in a game without Shin Guards the referee or USL staff may ask him to step out. The player may not enter back in the game until they put on Shin Guards)

  • Note
    Indoor facility requirements:
    1) show picture I.D. to enter building.
    2) Daily footwear not allow in gym in order to preserve playing surface clean & dry. Only flat bottom indoor soccer shoes allowed.
    3) No Food is allowed inside the Gym.
    4) No Makeup games.

    • Please respect all officials, and security guards as guest in each of the indoor facilities.
