Urban Soccer Rules
Rules listed below are created by Urban League, Indoor/Outdoor facilities and for your safety. If you have any questions feel free to ask one of the
League supervisory staff on duty.
Outdoor Guidelines:
- Registration: Players must be registered prior to game.
- Roster:
5v5, 6v6 (9 Players), 7v7 (11 players), 8v8 (12 players).
Coed 5v5, 6v6 (minimum 2 women field players)
Coed 7v7 (minimum 3 women field players)
- Proper Attire: League shirts, turf or flat sole soccer shoes
recommended, shorts,
shin pads. Our goal is to promote team and organization spirit! (If a player is in a game without
proper gears, game official or USL staff may ask him to step out. The player may not enter back in the game until
proper attire is satisfied)
- Schedule: 1 regular schedule game per week, 6-10:30pm. Season schedule
will be posted online by wk. 3. Due to unforeseen issues with scheduling,
some changes may need to be made after the initial posting.
- kickoff: Ball must roll forward midfield at start of game & all restart
after each goal score. (opponent must allow 6 yards distance to restart).
- Free Kicks: 6v6 (6 yards), 7v7 (7yards), 8v8 (8 yards)
- Penalty kicks: All Pk's taken with 1 step.
- Pass Back: keeper can not use hands to play the ball
- No offside, no Slide Tackles, no aggressive reckless play.
- Yellow Card = 2 minutes penalty, team plays a player down, unless
opponent scores. 2 accumulated yellow cards = red card.
- Red Card = Player will automatically be suspended from game with risk of
league expulsion!
(team plays 5 minutes shorthanded or until opponent scores. new player allow
after power play served).
- Sportsmanship: All participants are to conduct themselves in a proper,
respectful manner to all League representatives, game officials, &
participating players. Fighting, abusive language will be subject
to red cards with possible league suspension.
- Respect for yourself, participants, referees, staff, & facilities.
- Substitutions: unlimited on a fly. (Goal Keeper substitutions MUST be made during teams possession)
- Two 22mins/halves. (conclusion of initial halve team changes side immediately at referees whistle & resumes play)
- Draw: End of regulation time the score is tie, it will record as tie with
each team receiving a point.
- Points: W=3 points, L=0pt., D=1pt., Forfeits 5-0
- Pickup players: Teams may pickup at most 2 additional league players to
complete the side in the interest of the game/competition rather then
executing a forfeit. There will be no delay of game for missing players or team not being ready.
- Referees decisions are final & binding as no protest allowed after
game!
- Five-A-Side: Minimum requirement 4 players for an official game.
- Six-A-Side: Minimum requirement 4 players for an official game.
- Seven-A-Side: Minimum requirement 5 players for an official game.
- Eight-A-Side: Minimum requirement 6 players for an official game.
- Coed 5v5 & 6v6 (Minimum 2 women field players), Coed 7v7 (minimum 3
women field players)
- Rainouts: We play rain/shine except severe, dangerous conditions. League
reserves additional fields Saturday PM for rainout, makeup games or any other
cancellations. Exception: No rescheduling indoor games
- Cancellation/Forfeits: We strongly suggest every effort to attend all
games even if it's a partial squad. League will do best in sending
additional league register substitute players as needed in the interest of
competition. Please notify league if need to cancel/forfeit by 3pm game day.
In event of cancellation, opposition has the right to accept or decline
possible makeup game.
Multiple forfeits can jeopardize team re-registration outcome!
- Team Captains/Coordinators responsibilities: Ensure that your respective
teams are aware of the above guidelines, player's proper behavior, &
full payment of team entry dues.
Indoor Guidelines:

- kickoff: Ball must roll forward mid court at start of game.
- Free Kicks: All Direct, allow 5 yards
- Penalty kicks: All Pk's taken with 1 step.
- No Goal Kicks: Keeper restart play with hands by throwing ball back in play
from anywhere within the penalty area.
- Pass Back: keeper can not use hands to play the ball
- Out of Bounds: Kick Ins instead of throw ins
- Overhead Structures: Ball hits ceiling or anything overhead, opposing team
restarts play at mid court.
- No offside, no Slide Tackles, no aggressive reckless play.
- Pickup players: Teams may pickup at most 2 additional league players to
complete the side in the interest of the game/competition rather then

- Note:
Indoor facilities requires participants to show picture I.D. to enter building.
BMCC mandate teams to change in locker rooms, players are to bring own
combination pad lock to store all personal belongings in lockers. (Urban
Soccer is not responsible for any stolen
or damaged property left in the lockers).
No changing in the lobby or inside the gymnasium, shirt must be worn at
all times while in the building.
No balls are allowed to be brought into the facility except
League approved Futsal balls.
No sitting or standing on sidelines while a game is in progress.
No Food is allowed inside the Gym. Water only.
